The World is Going Mobile

There are currently estimated to be 327.6 million active wireless customer connections in the U.S. The nation’s population is estimated by the U.S. Census Bureau to be roughly 312 million. This means that today there are now more active broadband tablets, cell phones, and mobile devices than people in this country.

Watch just about any television program and within 30 minutes you will see 2 -5 advertisements for a mobile carrier promoting their new smart phones or the smart phone manufacturers marketing their products, all focusing not on making phone calls but on texting, browsing the internet and accessing downloadable content.

33% of mobile users are looking to access local content relevant to their GPS positioned location (eMarkerter, August 2011), and 61%-81% would prefer a browser based page to a company specifically installed App
